General Clinic / Booking Questions

1. How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by calling our clinic directly, sending us an email, or using our online Contact Us form. We’ll work with you to find a time that fits your schedule and the needs of the service you’re seeking.

2. Do I need a referral to see a specialist?
- Psychiatry (Dr Daniel Tosson) – A GP referral is required for your first appointment.

- Paediatrics (Dr Frank Chen) – A GP referral is required.

- Psychology (Vlado Svigir) – A referral is optional; however, if you would like Medicare rebates, a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP is required.

- Physiotherapy (Christos Hughes) – No referral is required; however, for rebates via private health insurance, check your policy.

4. What are your opening hours?
Our clinic is open Monday to Friday, from 9am - 5pm. Specific appointment availability may vary by practitioner.

5. Where is the clinic located and is there parking available?
We are conveniently located at Suite 2, 2 Brodie Spark Drive, Wolli Creak, Short walk from the Wolli Creak station or timed on street parking sometimes out front, otherwise we suggest parking at Woolworths/Dan Murphy’s across the road from us as its 2 hours free.

6. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We ask that you provide at least 5 working days notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your Psychiatrist/Psychology appointment. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient and helps us maintain efficient clinic operations.

7. Do you accept Medicare or private health insurance?
Yes, we are a Medicare-recognised clinic. Rebates are available for eligible services. Private health insurance can also cover some services, depending on your policy. Our staff are happy to help you check your eligibility.

Psychiatry (Adult)

1. What can I expect at my first psychiatry appointment?
Your first session is a comprehensive assessment where your psychiatrist will get to know your history, current challenges, and goals. Together, you’ll discuss symptoms, treatment options, and the next steps, whether that’s therapy, lifestyle strategies, or medication.

2. Do I need to bring any medical records or reports?
Yes, BEFORE attending your initial, our admin team will ask you to provide a valid GP referral, School reports (primary or high school), If previously treated for ADHD, then we need the report(s) from your doctor, any relevant medical records, prior assessments, or reports helps your psychiatrist make the most accurate recommendations. This is particularly important if you’ve previously received treatment for mental health concerns.

3. Will my psychiatrist prescribe medication?
If appropriate, your psychiatrist may discuss and prescribe medication. This is always done collaboratively, with a focus on your preferences, goals, and safety.

4. How long are appointments and how often will I need follow-ups?
Initial appointments typically last at least 60 minutes. Follow-up sessions vary depending on your treatment plan are often 45 minutes, and may be scheduled monthly, or at intervals recommended by your psychiatrist.

5. How do I know if medication is right for me?
Your psychiatrist will discuss the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives with you. Together, you will make a decision based on your symptoms, goals, and preferences. Regular follow-ups ensure the treatment is safe and effective.

6. Can I continue seeing my psychologist while seeing a psychiatrist?
Yes! Psychiatry and psychology often work best together. Your psychiatrist and psychologist can collaborate to ensure your care is coordinated and personalised.

Psychology (Adult)

1. What types of therapy do you offer?
Vlado provides adult-focused therapy, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and supportive counselling tailored to your needs.

2. How long is a typical psychology session?
Standard sessions last approximately 50–60 minutes. Some sessions, like initial consultations, may be slightly longer to allow for a thorough discussion of your history and goals.

3. What issues can I bring to therapy?
You can bring any emotional, psychological, or behavioural concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, ADHD, or adjustment to life changes.

4. Can I switch from in-person to telehealth sessions if needed?
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available for many of our psychology appointments, offering convenience while maintaining the same high-quality care.

5. How will my progress be monitored?
Your psychologist will regularly review your progress and adjust strategies as needed. Together, you will set goals and track improvements throughout your therapy journey.

Paediatrics

1. What age range does Dr Frank Chen see?
Dr Chen sees children from newborns through adolescence, providing care for a wide variety of health, developmental, and behavioural needs.

2. What can I expect at my child’s first appointment?
The first appointment is a comprehensive health review. Dr Chen will discuss your child’s history, growth, and development, perform any necessary examinations, and outline a personalised plan for ongoing care or treatment.

3. Does my child need a referral?
Yes, a GP referral is generally required for paediatric appointments, which helps ensure continuity of care and Medicare rebates if applicable.

4. What conditions or concerns does Dr Chen treat?
Dr Chen manages general paediatric issues such as asthma, eczema, constipation, bedwetting, obesity, growth, and nutritional problems. He also has special interests in developmental, behavioural, and learning difficulties.

5. How do follow-up appointments work for ongoing care?
Follow-ups are scheduled as needed to monitor growth, track progress, or manage chronic conditions. Dr Chen may also collaborate with allied health professionals or schools for holistic care.

6. Can I bring my child’s school or allied health reports to the appointment?
Yes! Any reports, including developmental or school assessments, help Dr Chen provide the most accurate advice and personalised care.

Physiotherapy / Sports Therapy

1. What should I bring to my physiotherapy appointment?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement and bring any relevant medical or imaging reports. If you have previously received physiotherapy, bring your notes or exercise plans.

2. What happens during an initial assessment with Christos Hughes?
Christos performs a full-body movement assessment, looking beyond the area of pain to identify underlying causes. He evaluates posture, gait, joint function, and overall movement patterns to design a personalised rehabilitation plan.

3. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your condition, goals, and progress. Christos will discuss a realistic plan during your initial assessment and adjust as needed during follow-up sessions.

4. Will I receive exercises or a home program?
Yes. Christos provides personalised exercises and movement guidance to complement in-clinic sessions, ensuring you continue making progress between appointments.

5. Can physiotherapy help prevent future injuries?
Absolutely. By improving movement efficiency, strength, and flexibility, physiotherapy reduces the risk of injury and helps you maintain long-term functional health.

6. Do you treat both athletes and everyday movement concerns?
